Durban Country Club

A course steeped in tradition and history, Durban Country Club boasts the unique claim of being the only course on the African continent to be rated in the Top 100 Golf Courses of the World by Golf Magazine USA and is rated in the top 11 in South Africa by Golf Digest SA. A combination of lush vegetation, sand dunes and stunning views of the Indian Ocean make this course one of the most unique, and challenging, in all the world. One of the defining characteristics of Durban Country Club are the massive undulations in the fairways, especially the 5th, 8th and 17th. The course was built on sand dunes and they are large and interesting. The par five third hole is rated the best third in the world. Playing from a high tee to a narrow fairway with dense bush and a predatory bunker on the left hand side you’ll see why this is the most popular hole on the course.

Leopard Creek

Innovative architectural and landscaping techniques ensure that the Leopard Creek golf course and living areas are naturally protected from animals, while lakes and small streams have been diverted through the development to create scenic vistas and interesting golf strategies. Golfing hazards take on a new dimension at Leopard Creek, for much of the water is home to the magnificent creatures for which the river is named, crocodiles. Extensive use has been made of water features and sightings of crocodile, hippo, antelope, buffalo and elephant are commonplace, on the course or in the Kruger Park bordering the course. The 505 meter par-five 13th is one of Leopard Creek’s most memorable holes. Here the green is right on the edge of the Crocodile River but 32 meters above the level of the water, offering magnificent views up the river and into the Kruger Park.

Oubaai Golf Club

In designing the Oubaai Golf Club, an 18-hole championship golf course and driving range, Ernie Els and his team have taken full advantage of the spectacular landscape of the Western Cape. They had the support of Nicklaus Design as technical advisors. The Clubhouse has a dramatic location that overlooks the 16th, 17th and 18th greens. Open-air terraces offer panoramic views of the Indian Ocean and the Gwaing River valley. The Ernie Els golf design philosophy is based on flexibility. Concepts are moulded according to the landscape, not vice versa. The aim is to produce courses that are fun to play and that enhance the surrounding environment. In addition, golf courses fairly display challenges and hazards while affording players the opportunity to use a full range of shots and plan strategically for individual holes. Links layout where veld grasses line the lush fairways. The course measures 6516m from the pro tee's which is uniquely long for a Coastal course. Oubaai offers a wonderfully stimulating and enjoyable golfing experience. The resort offers full facilities including a Clubhouse with breath-taking views of the Indian Ocean, locker rooms and Pro Shop.
